Ribbons will be awarded for the first through sixth place at Dual meets for individual events and for relays. Swimmers not swimming for competition, example, “swimming for time” will receive an Exhibition ribbon. All of these ribbons carry the swimmer’s event and time on the back.
At Invitational meets medals or ribbons may be awarded for first through sixth place, and sometimes also for seventh through twelfth place in the individual events. At an Invitational, relays usually receive medals or ribbons for first through sixth or place.
Occasionally, heat winners also receive a ribbon at an Invitational. In the past, trophies have been awarded at the large Eastern Michigan Cluster meet.
Swimmers do not pick up their ribbons at a Dual meet. These are given to the coach who will make them available at a later practice.
Awards at an Invitational and the Championship meets, however, are usually available at the Awards area during the meet.
The team Recorder keeps the official Records. Certainly parents are encouraged to keep a log of their child’s times throughout the season as well. Occasionally best times are posted on the YPAC bulletin board and website. A summation of each swimmer’s season times is usually presented to him/her at the year-end banquet.
We are proud to recognize those swimmers who have put forth extraordinary effort and who hold team records. These records are posted on our board in the pool area. We hope you will join us in congratulating these swimmers and in encouraging all swimmers to work toward meeting and exceeding the accomplishments of their teammates.
Those swimmers who qualify for the State and/or Zone and/or National meet will receive a shirt indicating their success.
The bleacher walls have been turned into a showcase for the many awards YPAC has received through out the years.
