Coaching Staff
Colleen Rose, Head Coach
Colleen started her swimming career at Pleasant Ridge at the age of six. At ten, she joined YPAC and continued through the age of fifteen. She swam all four years at Ferndale High School and during her junior and senior year went to the State Finals; two of her relay records still stand. She started coaching at Ferndale High in 1999 as Head of the Boys team and coached for four seasons, taking a team of twelve boys from 4th in Division III to 1st for two consecutive years. During that time, she also started coaching at Kimball High School as the Head Girls coach. In her second season, Colleen took the first relay in five years to States. She has been coaching at YPAC for the past eight years.
Qenton Stinson, 10 & Under Coach
This year will be Qenton's fourth year coaching at YPAC. After a short hiatus, he is back by popular demand; he is one of YPAC's best loved coaches! He has coached for the Pleasant Ridge Piranhas during the summer for the past four years. Qenton swam and also has coached at Detroit Northern High School.
Rick Stec, 10 & Under Coach
Rick began his coaching career with the Taylor School District and has been with them for nearly eight years. During his time there he has been the coach of the Taylor West middle school swim team and the Truman high school men’s team. He has been involved with competitive swimming for 14 years. This will be Rick’s second season with YPAC.
Jackie Jurgelewicz, 11 & Up Coach
In addition to coaching YPAC, Jackie spends a lot of time in or near a pool, currently working for the City of Troy Parks and Recreation and for Berkley Continuing Education as a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, lifeguard instructor and a fitness and wellness instructor. She was the Co-Head Girl's Swim Coach at Shrine Catholic High School before joining YPAC. She attended Center Line High School and was a member of the Varsity Swim Team for 4 years, placing every year in the division meet and 2 out of 4 years going to the County Meet. She was a two time Macomb County Division Meet MVP and a 2 time MVP of her team. She currently attends Wayne State University.
