The best way for a swimmer to improve is to establish clear goals and to work hard at attaining these goals. That includes attending all practices, being on time for these practices, and putting forth maximum effort at these practices.
All swimmers must swim in three closed YMCA meets in order to qualify to participate in any championship-level meets, i.e. Clusters, States, Zones and Nationals.
High school swimmers are allowed to swim in two Dual meets for the “YMCA” during their high school swim season without losing their high school eligibility. High school swimmers must swim in three League dual meets or invitational(s) prior to the Cluster championship meet.
Technique Clinics will be offered throughout the season to help swimmers work on specific strokes, starts, turns and finishes. We highly recommend that when these clinics are offered that your swimmer take advantage of them
PRACTICE GROUPS – Age Group Swimming
YPAC swimmers will be placed in one of five practice groups by age. All final decisions on who swims in each group will be made with the coaching staff. The groups are as follows:
Age group swimming allows swimmers to practice in an age appropriate atmosphere. It also allows swimmers to train their bodies to achieve their full athletic potential without risking the chance of injury. Within each age group, swimmers will be divided according to skill level so each swimmer will be challenged, every day.
Pre-team - All Ages
This is for swimmers who are looking to get involved in competitive swimming but may not have a basic knowledge of the four competitive strokes.
Practices will consist primarily of technique. The emphasis on technique will prepare the pre-team swimmer for competition. Pre-team swimmers will be invited to attend three predetermined meets in which they can compete. They may move up to an Age Group during the trial period.
